Crochet a colorful Afghan

I am working on a beautiful, bright patterned afghan for someone! The yarn is bright colors and an acrylic/wool blend. I'm not fond of working with acrylic but the yarn was close at hand, the right gauge, and colors were what I was looking for. After this one, I will buy only cotton, wool or linen for the next one. I am searching for the right yarns in DK gauge which are favorite's of afghan makers. I am in the US so buying here is important to me. If you have any ideas, please share them! The pattern is the African Flower.
